Aniston, Waller-Bridge among SAG winners
Jennifer Aniston and Phoebe Waller-Bridge were among the winners at this year’s 26th annual Screen Actors Guild awards in Los Angeles. Aniston won outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama for her work on Morning Wars; Waller-Bridge won outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy for her series Fleabag. Other winners included Sam Rockwell (Fosse/Verdon), Michelle Williams (Fosse/Verdon), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) and Tony Shalhoub (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel); the cast of The Crown won best drama ensemble, while the cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won best drama ensemble. The lifetime achievement award was presented to actor Robert De Niro.

Impeachment drama finds its Drudge
Comedian Billy Eichner is to star as right-wing internet personality Matt Drudge in the TV dramatisation of the Clinton presidential impeachment, Impeachment: American Crime Story. Eichner joins a cast that includes Clive Owen (as Bill Clinton), Beanie Feldstein (Monica Lewinsky), Sarah Paulson (Linda Tripp) and Annaleigh Ashford (Paula Jones). The series is based on the book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President, by Jeffrey Toobin. In a significant link to the original events, Lewinsky is working on the series as an executive producer. Filming on the project begins in March.

Winfrey, Steinem among subjects of new Apple series
Television talk show queen Oprah Winfrey and Hamilton writer/star Lin-Manuel Miranda are to be among the subjects of a new biography series for the streaming platform Apple TV+. The series, titled Dear …, is being developed by Peabody and Emmy Award winner R.J. Cutler and will explore each individual’s life through letters written by those whose own lives have been connected to the subject’s. The series will also feature programs on Gloria Steinem, Stevie Wonder, Spike Lee, actress and activist Yara Shahidi, Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, ballet dancer Misty Copeland and iconic children’s television star Big Bird.
