It’s that time of the year again, when NYC is filled with art fairs and galleries from around the world are showcasing interesting artists and art works. Foley Gallery, from the Lower East Side in NYC, let us know that they’ll be exhibiting the work of Bradley Castellanos, Karen Margolis, and Stan Squirewell at the VOLTA Art Fair later this week. VOLTA, which runs from March 4 – 8, 2020, will be at Metropolitan West, located at 639 West 46th Street at 12th Avenue.
Below is an abstract art work titled “Separation Anxiety,” 2019, by Karen Margolis. The piece measures 24 × 36 inches, and is watercolor, gouache, thread, and map fragments on Abaca. According to the artist’s page on the Foley Gallery’s website, Margolis took a microscopy course at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, which inspired her to create works like this, “exploring the universality of macro/micro patterns.”
We’re looking forward to seeing more in person, and hope to report from VOLTA as well as a number of the other art fairs in the coming week or two. Make sure to check back to the Artsology Blog for more coverage coming soon!
