The 27th Istanbul Jazz Festival, organized by IKSV (Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts), will take place from June 27th through July 14th, 2020. The festival will host leading names and new discoveries from the world of jazz, including Gregory Porter, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, and Brian Blade, among others. In addition, the festival has a program called “Vitrin: Showcase for Contemporary Music from Turkey” which features musicians and ensembles from the local scene, including Atakan Ünüvar, Barbaros Erköse, Eda And, Coşku Turhan, Ozan Musluoğlu, Doruk Gönentür and Ferit Odman, among many others.

One interesting twist – and perhaps a reflection of helping to develop a new generation of jazz fans – the festival will have “A Childlike Day” on July 12th, which will be targeted to kids up through age 9, and will include music and visual arts workshops, a musical show on the main stage, jazz concerts in the garden, a circus show and interactive playgrounds.
