Stained glass and Star Wars might seem like an unlikely pair, but not once you view the work of Keth Pride. The artisan fashions the ships and droids made famous in the sci-fi classic into lamps and wood sculptures that feature colorful glass accents. The wings of an Imperial Shuttle, for instance, are clad in swirling green tones while the body of an AT-AT lamp has a fiery feel thanks to the addition of the orange and red glazing. The results are a reminder that when craft is combined with pop culture, the results will surprise and charm you.
Pride’s creations marry many of his interests. “I love incorporating form with function,” he tells My Modern Met. “This, when coupled with my love of science fiction and fantasy, is largely what has inspired my wood art lamp/clock pieces.” His commitment to the details found on the Star Wars ships and characters highlights his woodworking and stained glass skills. Each piece includes many finer details that make a character instantly recognizable as being from the Star Wars universe.
