Now he teaches drumming, guitar, bass, keyboard, singing and ukulele (not all at the same time) via Zoom Meetings. Lessons range from AC/DC’s TNT to Tones and I’s Dance Monkey.
“The benefits of Zoom lessons are they are recorded and sent to the family after each lesson so the kids can practise and have access to things they may have forgotten.”

Smith says: “Parents can even join in on the lessons. In some cases, the students end up teaching other family members during the week so the family bonding is awesome.”
Smith and his family are coping well during enforced isolation. “These past seven weeks have been the best: walks, bike rides, crafting, wrestling, dancing, backyard camping. I do miss AFL football big-time though.” Smith is now applying for grants and angling for a spot on ABC Kids.
